Making a Mashup
(Without Really Drawing)

Here's a quick step-by-step of how I altered a Cornered comic. The original:



I wanted the store and lady to appear to be in a desert. The next step was to isolate them on separate layers. (The checkerboard areas are transparent).




Then I did a Google image search for "comic desert" and found this comic that kinda matches the style of the Cornered original:



I resized the desert comic, and I lucked out on how well it fit. Note that the store and lady images are in layers on top of the desert image.



Next I did some cut and paste of sand areas to cover up the guys and bubble. Notice the cactus is still behind the car.



I cut out the cactus and pasted it near the front, and pasted a smaller version of it in the distance. Then I chopped up the desert sun and sky and put them in their place.



Finally, I searched Google images for "comic fish" and found a suitable store logo dealie. And the text, supplied by reader Rainey, finished it off.
